NO ONE gets into a position like that being a ‘normal bloke.’
The only way one works their way into politics these days is by taking money from one interest group or another, who then owns and controls the candidates and politicians who took their money.. He’s EXACTLY the same as all those who came before him.
@
Yes I agree, fed up with the term LET ME BE CLEAR, they all say the same thing, he says he’s not going through with the digital ID, starmer said that, even now it’s being bought in through the back door
@
Like David Brent...😅
@
The Times has become, in a matter of a month, the chief supporters of Mr. Burnham; Mr. Maguire in particular.
@
We did he record this in a cupboard 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Andy Burnham being from the North West and presenting as a normal bloke is a self-conscious and maybe not cynical but albeit deliberate thing. More to the point what is a normal bloke? It's a notion and the media is fluffing a pm up as they generally always do, fair play
@
Times is wrong of course because Burnham is not an ordinary bloke ...He is an ambitious self interested politician as they all are and they have all so far acted like the [proven] corrupt elite they are and not just the expenses fiddling but all the other crimes making the title "right honourable" a crude distortion of the English language.
@
The very fact he wants to be Prime Minister absolutely removes him from the normal guy nonsense!
@
Andy Burnam washes a mug and the Chief Political Commentator of The Times immediately declares him a 'disarming, normal bloke' whose inner essence matches his public persona. Hats off to Stig for trying to bring this back down to earth by bringing up actual Treasury constraints—shame it was met with an A.E. Housman poem instead of fiscal reality.

Burnham is a crook

Patrick hasn't drunk the Kool Aid; he has bought the Kool Aid factory

Define normal
@
The ironing board is behind you
@
he's a flake, like all these Mayor's..
@
It must have taken hours for Patrick to iron all those creases in his shirt 🤪
@
Burnham fanboi Patrick Maguire is here. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him say a critical thing about Burnham, it’s ridiculous.

The media fluffing of "Andy" is becoming sickening.
@
Why would you want a normal bloke as PM? Surely we need an exceptional person of good principle, proven success, wide knowledge and experience and leadership ability…..
@
I don’t particularly want a ‘normal bloke’ running the country. I want an extraordinary person with outstanding skills and judgement. Although who knows what is meant by a ‘normal bloke?
@
We don’t want a normal bloke, we want an exceptional bloke

Spot on, Theo! I really believe his fresh approach is exactly what we need to finally flip the script.

Burnham playing the long game while Westminster tries to read the manual is classic. He’s always had a different strategy for the board than the usual crowd. Do you think he can actually flip the script once he's in the big seat, or is he just playing a different game entirely?
