Wow! Henry Louis Gates has come around. He understands and has put together an excellent one hour documentary that covers over 200,000 years of African history. It’s well done and factual.

The history of africa is so varied, amazing, and interesting 🤩 I love to learn about it! It truly makes you wonder how many secrets have been hidden or lost to time through the horrors of colonization... I hope we can continue to learn about such important history

It’s amazing that many Western civilizations — outside much of today’s academic world — still try to diminish the history of Black people. Even with so much evidence, it has often been intentionally overlooked. As African countries grow wealthier and invest more funding into anthropology and archaeology, more of their ancient history and cultures will be shared with the world.
This was pieced together from another excellent 6 part series where they revealed the hidden history of other parts of Africa like Nigeria (Benin etc) & historical Mali and it's history of writing & centres of learning.
5:55 Something they didn't touch on beyond the oldest fossil evidence being found in Africa is that Africans have the highest genetic diversity among any group of people. This makes the possibility we might have come from any other continent a statistical impossibility.
Here we go 🙄. Whenever Africa is getting its deserved recognition, here come the “whatabout” crowd, desperate to distract and detract and hijack the conversation. Thank you, PBS for talking about Nubia and its centuries of influence.
It is documentaries like these that hopefully will get more people studying Africa , there is a rich history of the Niger Delta and river that needs to be written about , Senegal and surrounding seems to have archeology dating back centuries, the Bantu/Nguni migrations has it own story. Egypt and Kush are only a small corner of Africa. 😀
I have a degree in archeology. It is well known that human life started in Africa. Most people might not know that Africa and the Middle East were one floral and biological ecosystem at various points in earth's history. They merged and separated many times in the last 3 million years. More things are coming to the surface through different research fields. So a lot of things are still debatable.
