The wealthy elites are very interested in building out data centers across the world in order to install a surveillance state incorporating AI into a control grid network. The primary agenda is to control the population and manipulate humanity into doing what they ultimately want. Pass this along to help citizens wake up to this unfortunate truth.
its going to happen . these protests are like a cat taking on a moose !
Money ? Protesters , a few lawyers , a senator or 2 = $0 tax revenue to the state .
Data centers ? Several $Mn a year . Give you 3 guesses who wins , and the 1st 2 do not count !
The planning commission of my city allowed a data center to register as an office building and skip permission from the city, and thus its residents, to be approved. And they could care LESS that it’s gonna use 56,000 gallons of water daily. I asked all seven city planning commissioners to resign and the city council to remove them and they pretty much laughed. They don’t give a fuck
Physical and mental health is the problem. Potentially killing off insects and crating subtropical micro climbers with weather phenomenon is the problem…
Why would you need shell companies and non-disclosure agreements for something that people wouldn't absolutely riot against if they actually knew what it was? This comes along side an anti-trust lawsuit against RAM manufacturers who, along side storage manufacturers who have not yet come under litigation, are pricing the public out of owning computers. The big justification for AI is surveillance and "security". Just like authoritarians want to require ID for using anything online, they'd rather us not own computers as they allow us autonomy and privacy which is a threat to their control.
It wouldn't surprise me if many, though not all, of these data centers weren't for AI, but were for cloud computing which we are all being slowly driven to. There they can harvest our data and collect yet another monthly subscription fee. We will own nothing and be closely monitored.
And in a few years the Data Centers will be outdated and shut down...so what happens to them then? Torn down? Left as a ghost town? After they've ruined the water sources, polluted the water, soil and air, and wildlife. Ruined farms and ranches. ???
After the data centers pollute your air with particulates and noise, exhaust your water supply, and wreck property values you will be left with nothing.
The people who are anti data center haven't stopped to consider how damaging the alternative is. Instead of the centers crunching data in centralized locations, it would get done by every large corporation in house. Too many entities to watchdog and govern, all using whatever means they can get away with to process that data, and at steadily exorbitant costs that will get passed down to the consumer. The majority of data center usage is games, tv, and social media. Eventually a night of streaming tv and games would cost as much as a trip to the movies. Uploading a tiktok would require your credit card. They'd create tiered data services for virtually everything technological. And the high cost risks would keep any new tech startups from ever challenging the largest corporations. And the need for data will just keep growing and growing, because Americans aren't going to turn off their televisions and phones.
Its like thinking that banning call centers would stop the need for phone calls, when it would just inflate the costs of doing business.
The problem here isnt the existence of data centers. Its outdated power grid infrastructure and the reluctance to switch to nuclear energy.
Unpermited power plants are a big red flag. Federal compliance to all the permits necessary to build this type of infrastructure have all been enacted for real reasons and need serious review.
All that land, water, and electricity just to feed people AI slop and turn them into bigger idiots. Government AI use has malicious intent and there’s a hard limit on financial returns for academic AI use. The money tech companies hope to make developing AI is from replacing human labor and eventually charging for AI services people are currently using for free.
I request Reuters to cover India protest against government in delhi, a scientist has stopped eating for 20 days and being dragged by government goons and police
When our enslavement comes we will be too stupid to cut the power off

Crazy how "the cloud" is actually just massive warehouses eating up all the local power. I wonder if these small towns are even getting a fair deal on the taxes, or if the energy grid is just going to tank for everyone else. Interesting look at the cost of AI.

Oh wow, I had no idea it was getting this heated! It’s crazy how these huge tech companies just move into small towns and flip everything upside down. Do the locals even get a say in this, or does the money just talk? Really makes me wonder where all these buildings are actually going up.

It's a tough trade-off, June. I wonder if the promised economic growth ever truly outweighs the loss of local identity in these towns.

Good morning, everyone. It’s wild to see how these massive data centers can spark such intense local disputes. It really makes you think about the balance between progress and preserving a small town's character. Do any of you live near one of these hubs? I'd love to hear your perspective.
