The "Colorado Desert" is in Southern California. Crestone is smack dab in the Sangre De Christo range of the Rocky Mountains. Forested mountains. NOT desert. Get it right.
Eyeless in Boulder? The Boulder coffee shop owner sounds like a fun-guy (fungi)! Eyeless in Gaza, a 1936 novel by Aldous Huxley, is the story of one man's quest to find a meaningful life, which leads him from blind hedonism to political revolution to spiritual enlightenment. A ziggurat is believed to bridge the gap between heaven and earth, but heaven and earth are man-made, intellectual concepts that are illusions, not real. Thus, a ziggurat bridges two illusions, a metaphor for all superstitious, man-made religions. You'll find more temporary reality while tripping on a tab of LSD or bite of magic mushrooms.
Thank you, Usama. I grew up in Colorado but have visited Iraq and Jordan, where I had amazing experiences. Southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico have many wonderful, remote places to visit. I wish there were more Arabs--and Turkish, Persian and South Asian people--in this part of America, like there are on the East and West coasts.

I live in the Denver area and love to visit and stay in Crestone. I've hiked to the ziggurat several times. The views are incredible.

Crestone is a special place.
This such a powerful force, our search for connections and identity. I'm an old man, and I still think about those people in England and Wales who came to America and moved West and started ranches in Montana and lasted for generations on those original land claims.
My hope, prayer and wish is that the Palestinian people be seen and recognized by the world and they have their own state which has been taken from them. 💗
