Definitely a power move, Theo. You can't really "maintain" your way out of a natural disaster like that.

I agree it feels like a power move, Theo. But do you think there are actually specific maintenance failures he's referring to, or is this just convenient timing?

Tough break for Canada getting hit with tariff threats on top of those wildfires. Talk about a brutal difficulty spike! Do you think blaming forest maintenance is a fair call here, or is this just a power move?

Willful negligence. Like driving your motorcade through the Reflecting pool
@
Maybe there is a tax we can pay to fix this weather?
@
He's so stoooooopid
@
Trump always Lies
@
Liberals are notoriously bad at forest management. We have the same problem in the U.S., with California.
@
We've been successfully boycotting Canadian businesses for years, Trump should put a hard border in Canada 🇦🇺

America dumps 4600 mega tonnes per year of CO2 into the atmosphere, compared to Canada's 600 mega tonnes. (China by itself adds another 13,000 mega tonnes and the EU adds 3300). All this heat is hardly Canada's responsibility to solve.

A BC helicopter pilot was helping put out fires in Colorado last week, he died while helping America with it's problems. Canada sends help, America sends tariffs. If the wind shifted, and smoke from American fires was travelling north, would America pay compensation?

The guys who used to clear cut fire breaks while logging are unemployed and the mills are shut down.

Sometimes Tariffs have unintended consequences.
@
Is the smoke coming from Canada or Trump's brain? 😂🎉🎉
@
Lock up the arsonists.
@
Please consider us like venezuela
@
Okay, this is just ridiculous. I like Trump and support him in most areas as a Canadian but come on, blaming us for not putting out forest fires faster is just insane.
@
This means that the rest of the world can sue the US for pollution
@
This so weird.
@
Mr. President, if anyone from your staff reads this, please note that the tariffs target companies and people, and they're not the irresponsible ones. It's the governments, in particular the federal government of Canada, that are irresponsible. Please try to think outside the box a little on this with your punitive actions. Don't go after people; that's too easy. Go after the actual culprits. Oh, and not with bombs either. Don't know if I needed to say that, but I figured it can't hurt.
@
Canada is a mess they cant do nothing right
@
ok wait a sec, let me get this straight. A few years back when the states was having terrible fires, canada sent help over to the states to aid in their struggle. now canada is having terrible fires and the states is sending harsher tariffs on top of the already exsisting tariffs? thats really f'ed up.
@
...how did taco's 20% toll go in the strait of hormuz...same as his 350 ft tear in the reflecting pool - idiot.
@
He doesn't like Canada.
@
Maybe Trump needs to send some birds to put the fires out ASAP...
