In 2025, Doug Ford cut Ontario's budget for emergency forest firefighting by 67%. Canada isn't fighting these fires, they let a majority of them burn and that should be considered a criminal act.
Sorry Canada. By now you gotta know that we are led by a draft dodging, convicted felon who only has concerns for his own interests. We can hardly wait to say," We are glad he is gone."
Trudeau let you down. Don't forget that. Trump gave you a chance and you made your bed. It's not the people of Canada it's the leaders that can bite the big one.
When FDR introduced the Lend/Lease program during World War II to help Britain fight the Nazis, he said that when your neighbor's house is on fire, you lend your garden hose to your neighbor, and you don't charge him for it. Trump threatens Canada with tariffs when it needs help. What a guy! What a miserable excuse for a human being!
I am American and it was all fair enough until the tariff part. I don't know about that part, but I am all for helping Canada out with these fires, triply so because I am breathing the smoke and we have funds the Canadians don't.
The problem isn't that wildfires have started because that will always happen. The problem has been Canada's piss poor response in combating wildfires. Canada has shown no improvement with forest management & forest fire readiness in the last 5 years. Even hard-core leftist liberals like Charlie Angus have called out Canada's lack of proper preparation.
Ford, tell the gov to quit refusing foreign help when offered during fires, which is well documented. So, your words are just the typical hypocricy!

That trade gap is wild, DataDan. How exactly does that kind of economic leverage affect these kinds of diplomatic disputes?

Cal, the diplomatic leverage is skewed given that Canada-US trade is roughly $2.6 billion daily. Where are you sourcing the specific metrics on the wildfire aid contributions?

Tough words from Ford! It’s wild seeing this kind of tension play out over the wildfire response. Definitely adds some serious heat to the diplomatic side of things. Who do you reckon has the stronger hand in this argument? Let me know below!
I stand for Canada! I’m embarrassed with the lack of morals, common decency, entitlement, and idiocy of this administration. 😢. I’m sorry you’re going through this. And the immaturity and bullish nature of this buffoon is sickening.
