Difficult to say as we’ve seen it’s been a long time since any team won it back to back but there’s 2 things that will play in their favor, De la Fuente does not seem to be the coach that will ride with the same players unless they are not in their best, and they will be playing their games in home soil which is a good advantage . They will be in the mix for sure
This coach will not repeat the disaster of the 2014 WC where Del Bosque brought an aging and battered old team and Spain got embarrassed. Bring the best players.
lol...'lamine yamal to a certain extent' are any of the otherse world champions? Didn't play as a star, knew his role in the team, executed it super well. Top notch performance, but not what the world expected.
Spain has won 5 of the last 10 World Cup/Euro in the last 18 years. No one else have 2. Once Barnel is ready, Yamal/Barnel/Cubrasi will be the best trio in football for the next 15 years.
I don’t see them repeat, just like I didn’t see them repeat after 2010. Their goal production is too small. They were lucky they never faced strong teams at their best, you can’t win a tournament just with having a strong defense. Their attack was really weak. Also, their best CB (ie. Laporte) will retire before 2030 and I don’t see any non-French player good enough to play at his level for 2030. Same goes Olmo and Rodri retiring soon.
Yes! Yamine didnt play his level all tournament. Williams was also coming back from injury. Oryasabal is not the best center forward, definately can be upgrade options at that position. So Spain has the age and system to go all the way in 4 years.
