United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is calling for an immediate end to attacks in the Gulf as tension between Iran and the United States escalates.
It’s a start, but I wonder what actual mechanisms the UN has left to enforce this if both sides keep escalating? Does anyone know if there are any specific diplomatic channels still open right now, or is it mostly just public statements at this point?

Heavy stuff. It’s high time someone stepped in and cooled things down before it spirals further. Hopefully, the call actually gets heard this time. What do we reckon—can diplomacy actually pull this back from the brink?
