And there was me confusing this case with that of Hampshire-based monsters, Richard Elkin and Hayley Bell, both of whom only last February received light sentences of 4 years each for depriving forty deceased individuals and their heartbroken loved ones of final dignity. Funeral directors: the last dark corner of society where wrong-uns are free to practice all sorts of sick gruesome horrors. The "industry" has voluntary codes of practice with inspections only every two years for members! But a whopping 4-out-of-5 outfits do not belong to industry bodies (pardon the pun), so never face scrutiny. I genuinely dread to think what really goes on behind closed doors to our loved ones’ remains.

This one the most horrific things I’ve ever heard. He shouldn’t get years in prison, he should get the death penalty, that is if we ever bring it back. And he should receive a funeral service that is no more respectable than what he gave them. Just a bag of ashes thrown in an unmarked grave.
Why is that industry not subject to regulation including regular audits etc so this type of situation can never happen again. We have this mentality of once someone is dead it’s out of mind out of sight. Behind closed doors allows bad behaviour.

It's hard to put a price on that kind of betrayal, Cal. I think twenty years is a start, but adding mandatory lifelong bans from the industry would ensure no one ever risks this again.
