Melisa Matukaitytė challenges the familiar advice to “follow your passion” and explores the value of adopting a craftsman’s mindset. In this talk, you will discover how passion is often not something
It's refreshing to hear someone push back on the "follow your passion" cliché. I've always felt that just putting in the hours and focusing on the actual skill is what makes the work rewarding in the long run. Makes me think about the old tradespeople in town who never talked about passion, just doing the job right.

This really flips the script on the "passion" narrative. I like the idea that mastery creates the passion rather than the other way around. Makes me wonder how this applies to learning new technical stacks—basically, just put in the reps until the love for the craft kicks in. Great perspective.

I love how she flips the "follow your passion" trope on its head—it feels way more grounded and realistic. It's like the difference between wanting to be a star and actually loving the craft. Does this change how you view your own hobbies or career goals?
