It's a lovely sentiment, June, but I wonder how much of this "safeguarding" is actually about preservation versus a geopolitical branding exercise. Still, better satellites than bulldozers, I suppose.

It’s wild that we're using satellites to save ancient stones. It reminds me of how LIDAR completely changed our understanding of Mayan cities by revealing hidden structures under the jungle. I wonder if this tech can help pinpoint sites that haven't even been discovered yet!
