I saw his opening race at UCLA the spring. In Los Angeles, we are lucky to get 4 to 5000 people for a track meet. So yes, it’s good that the record attempt was in London.
Josh called a London WR, just like Babe Ruth called a home run in the World Series. Josh is on his own schedule - which is a function of digital management, idiosyncratic training, and his ability to make out well financially. I did not see Josh at Diamond League meetings - so I was surprised. Cole Hocker won in Paris, Myers coming on strong, and Ingebrigtsen coming back - so the field is loaded. But Josh took half a second off the WR - so I would not bet against him getting the 1500 WR, as well as the Gold. His Brooks team is a really, really strong asset. A fascinating case study in athletics.
If he gets the 1500m record and win the olympics he will be one of the best of all time. It was amazing what he did in London, but there are other amazing athletes out there that will give him a run for his money in the future.

Finally we can stop hearing the Moroccan fans saying that El G will never be beat. Every record gets beat eventually, no matter how good it is. Next stop is the 1500M record.
